SKI PATROL

The Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP) is comprised of more than 4,500 volunteers from coast to coast to coast in Canada in 56 zones and nine divisions. The Devil’s Glen Patrol is a dedicated team of people with the goal of promoting safety and first aid assistance to skiers and snowboarders. They are easily recognizable in their red jackets with the distinctive white cross. Our patrol works alongside the staff at Devil’s Glen every day to safely open and close the hills, respond to injuries, and provide first aid support at races and special events.

HOW DO I BECOME A PATROLLER?
In order to join the Patrol you must:
•   Hold current certification with the CSP
•   Be a strong intermediate skier or snowboarder (able to ski / ride all Club terrain)
•   Be an excellent team member with strong communication skills

To become a patroller, an individual needs to pass a rigid set of examinations involving on-snow safety, advanced first aid (one of the best courses in Canada), and patrol procedures and programs. Courses are offered in various locations. Further information can be found on-line via https://www.skipatrol.ca/where-we-play/recruitment-central-zone/ OR by visiting the CSP Central Zone website, https://skipatrolcentral.com

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A DEVIL'S GLEN SKI PATROLLER?

•   Ski/board at any CSP patrolled resort in Canada
•   Advanced first aid (AFA) training and certification
•   Hands-on experience and personal development

ALPINE PROGRAMS

The success of our Alpine Programs at Devil’s Glen is largely driven by the immense support of our volunteer partners, sponsors and parents. There are a number of different ways in which to get involved with the AP community and there is ALWAYS a need! Email our team today indicating which role(s) you are interested in and join a FANTASTIC team!

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE – A group comprised of Club staff and members who meet sporadically during the off-season and more regularly in-season to plan, advertise, solicit support for, coordinate and oversee the tasks required to bring together our fundraising events:
  • Casino Night (alternate each season)
  • Alpine Auction (silent & live, alternate each season)
  • 50/50 Draw (run each year)

HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEER HOURS – If you are a teenager or have a teenager looking to achieve their 40 hours of community involvement activities in order to receive their high school diploma, please reach out and we will happily involve them in FUN volunteering tasks to complete this requirement!

RACE EVENTS – Did you know? It takes approx. 75 people to successfully run a quality FIS slalom race?! The jobs are varied from race officials, gatekeepers, and announcers; to fixing gates, side slipping, timing, and collecting bibs. Race events at the Glen would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers – join this incredible group today!

RACE PARENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM – Each parent or caregiver who has a child registered in an AP race program is required to complete a) an Alpine Programs online parent module and b) volunteer at one Race Event for each race participant in your family. Additional details and instructions are sent directly to AP families prior to each season.

TEAM AMBASSADORS – Reserved for those who are eager to promote team SPIRIT and UNITY, our Team Ambassadors are often parents of kids in Alpine Programs who help maintain regular and open communication between coaches and fellow parents, especially during Race Events (i.e. sharing meeting times, inspection times, start times). They also assist coaches by distributing lift tickets, running ski jackets from start to finish areas, organizing social gatherings for their age group or team, helping put together team baskets for the Silent Auction fundraiser, and more!

RACE CREW – The Alpine race season at DG runs from the beginning of January through to the end of March. Our amazing Race Crew, comprised of both members and non-members, are required to work a minimum of 10 events during the season: assisting with the set-up, management and tear-down at each race. A ski racing background is NOT required, as instruction and technical updates are provided, but each Crew member must be able to ski or board at an intermediate level and must either take a Level 1 Officials course or be a current Official. A UNIQUE BENEFIT (among many) for non-member Race Crew is being provided a Devil’s Glen badge to access and enjoy the Club throughout the season as well as eligibility for family add-ons at an additional cost, including programs and day passes.
